If you must use worksheets, then be sure you do the following 6 things:1. Know what you are buying. If you can’t see it (there is no sample shown), then do not buy it. There are many people out there trying to make a buck off the current popularity of worksheets. Many, if not most, of these people know nothing about mathematics, teaching, or how the brain learns. Anyone can type columns of addition, subtraction, multiplication, etc. problems; but these worksheets will be bad for your child. Don’t trust what you can’t see.
Worksheets are slowly becoming an important tool of learning for little children. Nowadays, worksheets are planned and created by many companies, publishers and schools. Some sell these worksheets both online and offline and others let people download them from the internet. Since there are so many worksheets available in the market, it may be difficult for parents to know which the appropriate and right worksheet is for their child. This article will take you through the basic elements of a good worksheet for children. Creating a worksheet requires a lot of planning and research. Things like the purpose of the worksheet, the age group for which it is being created and the resources available to solve the worksheets should be considered.
Home schooling can be expensive and difficult to implement, especially on a tight budget. If money is tight, homeschool worksheets that you can get for free can take the place of a textbook. Although some worksheet resources charge a small fee, you will be able to access thousands of printable worksheets that you can use for homeschooling.

I saw one company whose worksheets included the instruction to ”say the number out loud as you…” This is very good! Speaking out loud is very important for learning to occur. Ideally, all worksheets should include this instruction. If you can’t find any that do, then you need to add that instruction yourself.
Some free worksheets are not good quality – the pictures are fuzzy, backgrounds print grey or speckled – and children tend to notice these things. If you are using the worksheets to educate your child, you may want to choose good quality worksheets that encourage your child to produce good quality work. After all, it’s a little difficult to ask your child to color within the lines and work neatly when the worksheet they are filling in hasn’t done the same.
So what is the concern? There are three big concerns, actually. Our teacher ”caution light” should start blinking if we are using lower-level-thinking worksheets (Example: ”Check the box next to the correct answer.”), if we are using too many worksheets or if we are using worksheets as classroom busy work.
