3) The best first grade worksheets and second grade worksheets are written at the right level of difficulty. Worksheets are not fun if they are way too hard or way too easy. As you probably know, early learners are easily frustrated if something is too hard. On the other hand, if a page is too easy, it is a waste of time and resources for everyone. Strive to assign pages in which students have to work a bit to succeed.

From a teacher’s perspective our competition is tough. Passing out a handout of 30 problems that are all in a format of 534×25= is not as stimulating in the students’ eyes as playing games such as Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil.

When I was growing up we didn’t have home computers let alone PlayStation to entertain ourselves. Handheld camcorders were barely coming to the retail market by the time I was in 8th grade, but still a long ways away from the YouTube and Facebook arena we now see today.
