Tip #4 – Keep it Fun.If you happen to have a competitive child, chances are he will love worksheets always trying to beat his last time. This is great and if this is the case, let him work all of the worksheets he wants. Just be sure that it is ”child-driven” not ”parent-driven” meaning – let it be his idea.
From a teacher’s perspective our competition is tough. Passing out a handout of 30 problems that are all in a format of 534×25= is not as stimulating in the students’ eyes as playing games such as Grand Theft Auto and Resident Evil.
1) Fun spelling reproducibles use whimsical art themes. Bring on the juggling clowns, leaping frogs, dazzling princes and princesses, and you’ll be off to a great start. Spelling worksheets for first graders and second graders are fun when they look fun. It’s not necessary to print out expensive worksheets in full-color. Black-and-white pages work just fine when there is some appealing art. First and second graders can always add their own color!
